However, several other clubs are close contenders, including Real Madrid, Manchester United, and Bayern Munich. Explore their revenue sources and financial success to understand what makes them the wealthiest clubs in the world.
Barcelona had the highest revenues in the football industry, reaching more than 1,019 million EURO, and over 98 million EURO profits, based on the official report. Last season, the sale of 10% of the television rights related to the La Liga matches generated extraordinary income of €266 million.
Another Spanish club, Real Madrid is the second richest football club in the world with more than 721,5 million EURO in revenue, based on the official statement. This is 68,5 million EURO more than the previous year’s revenue. The team got 12,9 million EURO profits last season, compared to the previous 0,9 million EURO.
Last year’s richest football club, Manchester City, is only the third this year with the total revenue of more than 696.21 million EURO, and with a profit of 47.36 million EURO, according to the 2021-2022 report. Though they are 3rd, stepping back 2 positions in this list, yet they got a growth in revenue. This growth is based on several factors, including the wider commercial revenues and the returning of fans to the stadiums after the Covid.
